It Takes Two Creator Revealed New Sci-Fi Fantasy Game Split Fiction

Several months ago, the Founder of Hazelight Studios and the creative mind behind The Game Awards 2021 winner It Takes Two Josef Fares teased fans, unveiling the first and the last letters of the studio's upcoming new game and leading the audience to come up with diverse suggestions:

The audience expected the mystery game to be announced at The Game Awards, and indeed, the new title was unveiled at the industry's recent event. Electronic Arts and Hazelight Studios showcased their new action-adventure game, Split Fiction, which blends sci-fi and fantasy worlds. 

The game is called a "unique co-op action-adventure split screen." It follows the story of the two writers, Mio and Zoe, one of sci-fi and the other of fantasy. They find themselves trapped in their own stories and will have to team up to break free from the imaginary worlds with their memories intact.

Josef Fares said: "At Hazelight, we've been building co-op games for 10 years, and with every game, we push beyond what players expect for action-adventure co-op games. I'm so proud of what we have built with Split Fiction. Let me tell you guys, it's going to blow your mind."

Split Fiction will be a unique mix of sci-fi and fantasy mechanics and abilities. "Escape a sun that's going supernova, challenge a monkey to a dance battle, try out some cool hoverboard tricks, fight an evil kitty, and ride everything from gravity bikes to a sandshark," reads the description.

Jeff Gamon, General Manager of EA Partners, noted: "Friendships and great memories are made through playing amazing co-op games together – and no one does it better than Hazelight."

Another game by Hazelight Studio, It Takes Two, which was the 2021 Game of the Year winner, sold over 20 million copies and has been considered to be one of the best co-op games released in recent years.
