Here's everything you need to know about the new VFX software built specifically for video games.
IlluGen, a highly anticipated new addition to the JangaFX product lineup that was first teased in January, is finally launching on July 28th.
"For years, I've wanted to be able to make looping, tiling smoke textures from EmberGen. IlluGen finally allows me to do that without even having to think about how to do it.
I made a square, looping smoke simulation flipbook in EmberGen, which took no more than 5 minutes. I imported it into IlluGen as a flipbook, ran a sheet decode on it to give me individual frames, used a Voronoi tile node, then re-encoded the sheet for an absolutely perfect tiling and looping simulation", shared Nick Seavert, Founder & CEO of JangaFX.
Previously, IlluGen was described by Nick as a node-based visual effects software designed specifically for video games, combining the best of tools like Houdini, Photoshop, Substance 3D Designer, 3ds Max, Maya, and other VFX solutions into one convenient package. This year, JangaFX also has big plans for LiquiGen and GeoGen, officially wrapping up updates for the EmberGen 1.0 series. The developers are now focused on EmberGen 2.0, a complete rebuild created from scratch.
