Japanese Studio Success Forms Hamster Department

Following the success of hamster-themed titles, the Japanese studio Success Corporation decided to establish a special Hamster Department dedicated specifically to developing hamster games.

Japanese video games studio Success Corporation has established a special department made up of developers who will devote their work to creating games specifically about hamsters following the success of the studio's last hamster care sim.

The so-called Hamster Department consists of 18 hamster lovers. Success has yet to officially open a division for hamster games, and so far the team represents an internal club within the company. "In the future, we will continue to work to make the world smile with the power of hamsters and games," the company wrote in the announcement.

One of the main reasons for the team's formation was the success of Tales of Djungarian Hamster, a Nintendo Switch hamster grooming game that generated tens of millions of yen for the company. The digital version sells for $10, while the physical version sells for about $20. The game sold much better than other similar sims, and its digital version is still popular despite the fact that the release took place in May 2021.

The company's hamster-themed mobile game Hamaham has also shown good results being downloaded over 450 thousand times since its launch.

So, it's not surprising that the success of recent hamster titles has led the company to a formation of a separate team dedicated to creating more hamster games and content.

Currently, the studio is working on the next hamster game called Hamster Valley. The team hopes that the title will surpass the results of Tales of Djungarian Hamster and Hamaham.
