Kojima is Unhappy With Death Stranding 2 Spoilers, Regrets Reposting Them

The designer also finally admitted he is happy with the positive reviews.

Ahead of the release of Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, Hideo Kojima shared in an interview that internal playtests of the game had gone too well, and he was not particularly happy about that. He admitted he had hoped the launch would spark at least some controversy.

Woodkid, who worked on the game’s soundtrack, even said that Kojima had to make adjustments to the script in response to the overwhelmingly positive feedback from testers.

Then, reviews dropped, and it was clear that Kojima shouldn't be expecting any controversy after all – Death Stranding 2 got 90 on both Metacritic and OpenCritic, so the genius is now "suffering from success."

Despite the hope for a more divided reception, Kojima finally admitted he's happy with the reviews and the reaction from early players. Speaking during the London stop of his world tour, he also expressed disappointment over how quickly spoilers and Easter eggs started circulating online.

The funny thing is that the designer acknowledged that it was partly his own fault. Kojima said he shouldn't repost them this frequently, as this definitely boosted the spreading of spoilers.

In case you missed it, Hideo Kojima also shared that he observes the actors in real life and then adjusts the script to better highlight their charisma. Why does Fragile smoke in Death Stranding 2? Because Léa Seydoux does in real life.
