Learn How To Render Ambient Occlusion & Depth Passes In Unreal Engine 5

Arghanion's Puzzlebox has released new videos on mastering Unreal Engine 5 rendering.

If you're interested in rendering Ambient Occlusion, which isn't really a thing anymore in UE5, check out Arghanion's Puzzlebox new tutorials. In the first part, the artist explains how to take back control over traditional Ambient Occlusion and effectively use AO maps in your material shaders for better artistic control. The second, more recent tutorial focuses on effectively utilizing Ambient Occlusion for rendering.

In this video, you will learn how to set up the Movie Render Queue for custom passes, create post-process materials for Ambient Occlusion and Depth, and configure console commands to ensure proper rendering. You'll also discover how to use Level Sequences for render output and adjust essential settings to achieve clean passes.

We recommend checking out more of Arghanion's Puzzlebox tutorials, such as this one on using Nanite Displacement for creating realistic water bodies, and visit his YouTube channel for more:
