A supposed leak, coming from Andy at Biohazard Declassified, reveals the main characters, setting, and enemies of Resident Evil 9.
The information comes from a source who claims to have participated in playtests of the new game in the series. It is a rumor and has not been officially proven by Capcom. However, it still might contain spoilers, so read if you are not afraid to learn details about the potential game's plot.

Resident Evil 9 might be set four years after the events of Resident Evil Village. Leon S. Kennedy and Jill Valentine will return as the main characters. They appeared in the game before, but it was the first time they had teamed up together. Jill will be dressed similarly to her outfit in Resident Evil 5: Lost in Nightmares, and Leon will look resembling his appearance in Resident Evil: Damnation. Chris Redfield and Barry Burton will return as supporting characters who will communicate with the player through radio calls.
The main setting is supposed to be an island, which features such locations as an abandoned hospital, caves, abandoned houses, villagers' houses, a dark forest, an abandoned factory, laboratories, and a temple. Jill and Leon will go to the island to investigate a company that created Eveline in Resident Evil 7. In Resident Evil 9, the company was creating mass clones of biological weapons.

As for the enemies, there are evolved zombies who reside on the island. They can run and use a variety of melee weapons. There are also enemies for each of the two main characters: a stalker will pursue Leon, while Jill will need to fight the Goatman. The main villain's name is Mr. Simon. He is a completely new character supervising the mass production of biological weapons.
Resident Evil 9 will not be released until next year, and there has been no news about the game recently. The game was announced in July when Capcom confirmed its development during the Capcom Next Summer 2024 stream. Before, there were rumors that the next game in the series would be set on an island and might embrace open-world gameplay. The suggestions about the setting might be true, as the recent leak also suggests the island as the main location. As for the gameplay format, it remains unclear.
