JangaFX's LiquiGen ships in closed alpha in less than two weeks.
After years of anticipation and multiple teaser demos, JangaFX has at last unveiled the official release date for LiquiGen, the company's long-awaited real-time fluid simulation software.
Initially announced in 2020 and scheduled to be shipped in 2021 as a companion to EmberGen, the team's other tool for crafting fire and smoke simulations, LiquiGen has been in development for nearly four years, with the team consistently providing updates on the software's progress and sharing captivating fluid simulations achieved with it. According to the studio's recent announcement, the node-based software will enter closed alpha in just a few days, on February 12, with the ultimate goal of releasing the open version later this year.
To participate in the closed alpha, users will need to purchase the JangaFX Suite, containing the aforementioned EmberGen and the recently released GeoGen, join JangaFX's Discord, connect their JangaFX accounts to get the suite role, and wait until the build gets launched on February 12.
Please note that the closed alpha version of LiquiGen is still one of its earlier iterations, meaning that many of the features planned for the final product are missing. "We are looking to get initial feedback on LiquiGen as it stands and work with the community to produce one of the world's best liquid simulation tools," comments JangaFX.
Here are some of the most recent LiquiGen demos shared by the team:
Last week, the company also shipped EmberGen 1.1, a brand-new version of its real-time volumetric fluid simulation tool for simulating, rendering, and exporting flipbooks, image sequences, and VDB volumes. Described as "the first major update" since last year's release of EmberGen 1.0, the release focused on simulation quality, accuracy, and performance, adding new features to the application and improving the existing ones.
