It's always interesting to see what is happening behind the scenes of famous productions. Thankfully, there are animators like Chris Gonzalez, who are willing to share.
Gonzalez published a side-by-side comparison of early footage of the chase scene in The Bad Guys movie and its final render. This way, you can really see how important lighting, VFX, and post- production are.
"This chunk was awesome since it gave me Baby Driver vibes. Plus I got to animate a bunch of cops as well. And if you look closely there is some fun side story going on with the officers. I remember laughing with my sequence supe Brooke Shay Bradford and our Hoca Benjamin Willis when all the FX smoke came in and covered it up."
I wonder if Gonzalez had to do some crazy maneuvers for the references, like he did for The Wild Robot: the animator had to spin on an office chair to better capture one emotional scene in the film.
