You can use the tools and pie menus in the latest version of the software.
MACHIN3tools, an add-on that offers handy tools and pie menus for Blender, has received an update, allowing you to use it in Blender 4.2, the newest version of the 3D software.
MACHIN3tools 1.10 is focused on Eevee Next and reworking the AssetBrowser tools, which now have simpler UX.
The add-on will look through the entire parent-child hierarchy and find all relevant objects in it, including mod objects. Moreover, the asset origin/empty can be placed in the Cursor's location, and the thumbnail can be updated after the asset is created, either from the 3D view or the asset browser.
"Internally, when an asset is created all the orignal objects are now being duplicated and so left untouched. ... Duplicated asset objects are then placed in a dedicated asset collection, which itself will be placed in a main _Assets collection. Both will be linked to the scene, but hidden from the viewlayer."
Thumbnail rendering has been revamped, now supporting Cycles and camera views for effects like Depth of Field.
What's more, disassembling an asset (making individual asset objects accessible) ensures that objects and collections are not linked but local.
Other changes affect sidebar panels, thumbnail scaling, the Bookmarks bar, World properties, and the Eevee Next panel. The Shading Pie has a Volume toggle, which takes into account the global world volume and volume objects.
"Without volume objects being present, turning on Volume rendering will setup a basic world volume for you, and expose some basic settings in the pie," the creator, machin3, explained. "With volume objects being present, their visibility will be toggled by adjusting viewport filtering. This way individual object visibility states are never touched and changed."
As for the Views Pie, the view will now be matched when using Smart Cam to create a new camera from the view. You can toggle Depth of Field and set it up by "either adjusting the focus distance directly, by picking an existing focus object, or by creating a new focus empty."
machin3 also returned the Surface Draw tool along with the BoxCutter and Hardops integrations.
