Making UE4 Mannequin-Compatible Characters in Blender

Tutorial-maker Todor is working on a workflow for Blender to easily make any character compatible with UE4's mannequin.

Tutorial-maker Todor a.k.a. CGDive has released a little teaser of a WiP project that will make the lives of Unreal Engine Artists much easier. According to the teaser, the artist is working on a workflow for Blender that will allow to easily make any character compatible with UE4's mannequin. The artist showed that the rig he's working on will support extra limbs and unusual proportions. At first, the workflow will only support UE4, but the artist commented that the UE5 version is also being kept in mind.

"It's just Blender bones. I have constrained the UE4 bones in a way that allows me to tweak the proportions while keeping the integrity of the rig. A connection to Rigify should be possible. So you'll be able to create Mannequin compatible animations in Blender as well," commented Todor on the method.
