QUByte's Co-Founder and Lead Artist, Marcel Bernardi, told us how the team brought back Breakers Collection, a 90s-style arcade fighting game inspired by Street Fighter, in a new compilation, powered by their proprietary emulation technology.
Introduction
Hi, my name is Marcel Bernardi, and I'm a Co-Founder and Lead Artist at QUByte Interactive. I have a degree in Digital Design and Computer Graphics, especially in 3D production, and joined the company at a very early stage to contribute to QUByte's first project, HTR High Tech Racing.
QUByte started in the industry in 2009, making some game porting for Nintendo Wii, but everyone at the company had a desire to make our own games, because of the love the team has for the 8-bit and 16-bit consoles and the arcade gaming era. Today, we're more than 20 people working in porting and game production.
Breakers Collection
Breakers Collection came with a very good and fruitful partnership with VISCO Gaming. Our first game with them was Vasara Collection, and it proved to be very fitting with the company culture and technology. That's because we develop our own emulation solution, the QEE QUByte Emulation Engine, which is a very versatile solution for us. With it, we can emulate several platforms to work on all modern platforms with much control and performance.
Breakers Collection also used the QEE QUByte Emulation Engine, since it's an arcade game that we wished to bring to the modern consoles, with several features and extras that we believed every fan of the fighting community would like.
The main solution on Breakers Collection is the QEE QUByte Emulation Engine. We also added the online functionality for it, to make a very performant and satisfying fighting and competitive gameplay. For the UI/UX, we used Unity 3D to make the interactions, extras, and features that we believe are worth including.
Breakers is an arcade game from the 90s, very similar to the Street Fighter franchise. There are two games, Breakers and Breakers Revenge, and we bring both of them in the Breakers Collection. The game has a very fulfilling gameplay with its own take on challenge, and especially online gameplay.
Conclusion
We introduced Breakers Collection in a few Fighting Championships across the globe, and it was very well received because of the online features, which were modernized for the current platforms and public.
We've so many ideas and projects with the Breakers franchise, but will only show to the public in a more mature stage of the projects, but follow us in all our social media to know more and get updated on the projects:
Thank you very much, and I hope everyone enjoys Breakers Collection and what we plan to bring in the future.
