CLO Virtual Fashion has released Marvelous Designer 12 – an update to the 3D clothing design tool. It offers improved workflows, styleline editing, and other useful features.
Better retopology means you now have more options, like selecting topology points and snapping patches to internal lines, shapes, and curves.
Animation Editor also got improved: you can edit keyframes for simulation caches, which allows you to fix isolated simulation issues, blend simulations together, adjust timing, and create looping cloth simulation caches.
The new styleline editing tools let you shape patterns in the 3D Window by adjusting lines between clothing parts. The changes are automatically applied to the 2D parts. You should be able to easily divide clothes into segments and change the style and form of the garment.
Another great addition to version 12 is the Spiral tool, which allows creating spiral patterns in the 2D Pattern window. You can change the radius, length, width, offset, and direction of the spiral.
Marvelous Designer 12 also features new import and export options. You can automatically generate a fitting suit for a custom bipedal avatar at import and merge vertices by proximity at export.
The software is available for $39/month or $280/year for Personal subscriptions, Enterprise subscriptions are $1,700/year for a node-locked license and up to $2,200/year for floating licenses.
