Introducing the option to draw patterns for clothing directly on a 3D avatar, softbody simulation for custom avatars, and several new beta features, such as the AI-powered pose generator.
CLO Virtual Fashion has released the latest update to its 3D clothing design software, the first since May, with several notable additions to help make your workflow even smoother.
The main highlight of Marvelous Designer 2025.1 is Off-Avatar 3D Pen Drawing, designed for users who prefer working in a 3D environment. This feature makes it easy to create patterns by drawing straight or curved connected lines on or around the avatar using the existing 3D pen. These 3D sketches can then be flattened into 2D pattern pieces.
With this update, Marvelous Designer now supports softbody simulation for basic shapes and non-skeletal avatars. Watch the video below to explore use cases and learn more about the workflow:
Additionally, there is a new AI Pose Generator, currently in beta, that creates poses for avatars using text prompts or uploaded and generated images:
Pattern Drafter is another new beta feature, currently available only for T-shirts, allowing you to easily create your first pattern using either measurement points or flat sketches:
Furthermore, Marvelous Designer 2025.1 adds a new denim preset that lets users create wet wash effects by selecting denim types and adjusting wash settings like Rinse, Enzyme, Stone, Acid, Bleach, and Ozone.
Also, it's now possible to maintain the topology during Auto Fitting, dramatically reducing your working time:
