Meccha Chameleon & Prop Hunt Meet in This 3D Sculpting Game
FAKE ME offers another take on the genre.

The wild popularity of games like Prop Hunt and then Meccha Chameleon couldn't leave game developers uninspired. If you wished for a title like that where you'd need to not just paint over objects but actually shape them, FAKE ME is what you need.
FAKE ME is powered by Unreal Engine 5.7, with the GradientSpace Runtime Geometry Utils plugin used for modeling in-game.
The team improved and modified the system, ensuring that UVs are automatically generated in real time whenever models are edited, preventing distorted visuals when painting. "In addition, previously painted areas remain visually intact when the UVs are automatically regenerated," developers Eren Can Metin and Emre Gökçe from YUMEXE told us.
The tools that will help you create a convincing copy include a gizmo that allows you to move, rotate, and scale shapes, as well as tools for duplicating and deleting objects.
You'll get cubes, spheres, and cylinders to start with, modify, and combine. Extrude, Inset, Outset, and Cut Faces tools are at your disposal, and the Paint mode includes a color picker, brush settings, an eyedropper, a Fill, and metallic/roughness values.
You don't need to be a professional 3D artist to set up objects, but, as you can see, there are plenty of tools to express your creativity.
"We are trying to keep the modeling tools as simple and basic as possible. Our goal is for everyone to experience this without getting bored and to enjoy the game. However, since the basic tools found in modeling software are available, someone with a good understanding of modeling can create creative hard-surface models. We are particularly curious to see the players’ creativity in this regard and are looking forward to seeing what kinds of models they will create."
The developers also tried to introduce variety in map designs in terms of difficulty. "With maps featuring simple low-poly models and assets with more stylized textures, we provide gameplay options with different levels of difficulty."
Don't worry, you will get enough time to create your perfect Michelangelo sculptures if the host allows it: from 100 to 900 seconds, players can set up a time comfortable for the team.
"We are especially aware that modeling is not for everyone, and we are trying to make our game as explanatory as possible. For example, we added short GIF buttons next to each tool that explain how that tool is used. Through the tests we conduct, we plan to make the game as explanatory and user-friendly as possible."
So what makes FAKE ME different from similar games, aside from the obvious? YUMEXE says that "there is no limit to what players can do, and it offers a free-form gameplay experience."
"In classic Prop Hunt or hide-and-seek games, players use a limited selection of assets or characters provided to them. However, in our game, players can become anything they want. The only limit is the player’s imagination. In short, we place player creativity at the center of the gameplay."
Moreover, Seekers can model and paint on top of their base low-poly bodies, adding a touch of personalization to the whole experience. Make your own accessories, armor, and weapons to stand out.
The studio is working on a health system for Fakers, character skills, the ability for players to record their own 'reveal' audio, and the ability for the lobby host to start a vote and let players choose the map and game settings.
"Ultimately, removing the limits on creativity eliminates the restrictive structure found in other games and makes our game more varied and colorful in terms of gameplay," the devs shared. "Players can adopt a serious and competitive approach by imitating the environment as accurately as possible. At the same time, they can create unusual designs that mislead the Seekers or make completely absurd objects that make everyone laugh."
