Meta Quest Gets Spatial Video Support Like in Apple's Vision Pro

The pinch gesture will help you navigate through the menu.

Meta has released the v62 software update for its Quest headsets, introducing spatial video playback and pinching gestures like in Apple's Vision Pro

You can now upload 3D footage captured with iPhone 15 Pro or iPhone 15 Pro Max (or even Vision Pro) using the Meta Quest mobile app. Then, you can watch it on your Quest 2, Quest 3, and Quest Pro at any time.

Apart from spatial videos, the v62 update introduces pinch gestures for menu navigation. To activate them, you need to look down at your palm and perform a short pinch to show and hide the Universal Menu or a long pinch to recenter the display.

"This feature gives you control over using a simplified interaction or the more full-fledged Quick Actions Menu. If you’d like to continue using the Quick Action Menu for system actions like taking photos or muting your microphone, you can re-enable it in Settings > Movement tracking > Expanded Quick Actions."

Other changes include Meta Quest Browser supporting external gamepads (PlayStation's, Xbox's, and others), Facebook livestreaming, and the ability to see YouTube chats while streaming.

These features will gradually become available starting the week of February 7.
