In the second round of Meta's layoffs, the company reportedly let go of 4,000 tech employees.
According to Vox, the cuts impacted workers from Facebook, Instagram, Reality Labs, and WhatsApp. CNBC says specialists in user experience, software engineering, graphics programming, and other fields had to leave their places this round.
As shocking as it is for the ones laid off, the decision in itself is not sudden. The plans to reduce positions were reported in November, and later Mark Zuckerberg announced new cuts by late April. 10,000 employees were supposed to depart, so we might see more news soon.
2023 started with a huge number of people losing their jobs: Meta just joins other big companies like Amazon, Google, EA, and others.
