The company expects to gradually reduce losses while continuing to develop its VR products.

Reality Labs, Meta's VR division, lost $19 billion over 2025, as stated in the company's recent earnings report.

According to the report, Meta's VR branch posted a $19.1 billion loss in 2025, which continues the trend of the previous couple of years. In 2024, the VR division incurred a $17.7 billion loss. For the three months ending December 31, 2025, the division recorded a loss of $6 billion. In the commentary section of the report, it is said that at a segment level, the company expects expense growth to be driven by the Family of Apps, with Reality Labs operating losses remaining similar to 2025 levels.

Speaking during Meta's fourth-quarter earnings call, Mark Zuckerberg noted that a significant share of the company's VR investment is focused on glasses and wearables:

"For Reality Labs, we are directing most of our investment towards glasses and wearables going forward, while focusing on making Horizon a massive success on mobile and making VR a profitable ecosystem over the coming years."

The CEO also shared expectations about the division's future financial results: "I expect Reality Labs losses this year to be similar to last year, and this will likely be the peak, as we start to gradually reduce our losses going forward."
