They first announced the open beta, then unannounced it.

If you thought that the wait for Final Fantasy 14 Online on Xbox Series X|S may soon be over, as you saw Microsoft's announcement of an open beta being "officially available," let me tell you that it was just a mistake made by the Xbox Wire team.
The announcement was made a month earlier by mistake. As for now, we know that the open beta of the long-awaited MMORPG for Xbox Series X|S will probably be released in mid-February. It will include all content from the demo, such as the A Realm Reborn story arc, as well as the Heavensward and Stormblood expansions.
Players will have the opportunity to level their character to 70 with no time constraints, and any progress made will be carried over to the official release of the MMORPG, which is scheduled for spring.
Also, recently, Naoki Yoshida, the Producer of Final Fantasy 16, shared that it'd be nice to see a younger generation taking over the next installment of the acclaimed franchise.
