Microsoft Is Reportedly Struggling to Sell Its AI Tools

Meanwhile, Google's Gemini is growing fast.

Nowadays, every more or less large tech company offers some kind of AI tools, and Microsoft has a whole bunch of them under its Copilot hood.

While you've definitely heard of it before, and the company has put a lot of effort into integrating it everywhere, even renaming Bing Chat to Copilot, it is reportedly struggling to sell the AI, with its main competitor, Google, on the way to jump over Microsoft on the list of firms with the most popular AI chatbots.

The Information (via Microsoft Central) reported that Microsoft is having problems with selling its AI agent to enterprise clients, and its Azure salespeople are struggling to meet their sales growth targets, cutting quotas by up to 50% earlier this year.

To this, a Microsoft spokesperson told Bloomberg that "The Information’s story inaccurately combines the concepts of growth and sales quotas" and that "aggregate sales quotas for AI products have not been lowered."

You can see in First Page Sage's report that in December, ChatGPT kept its spot as the most popular chatbot, taking 61.3% of the market, while Copilot took second place with 14.1%, followed by Gemini with 13.4%.

However, Gemini will likely overthrow Copilot very soon, as its estimated quarterly user growth is 12%, while Microsoft's tool's usage is expected to increase by 2% only.

The report states that all AI agents' use will likely continue to grow, despite AI's frequent hallucinations, which come up with facts that are actually false, in their desire to please the user.

Time will show if AI takes over our lives completely, or we'll get tired of playing with this toy.
