Microsoft Patent Teases Xbox Controller with LCD Screen

It will allow pairing with different gaming systems.

Microsoft filed a patent showing a new Xbox controller design featuring an LCD screen used to notify players of pairing with different gaming systems. According to the description, the controller can connect to the systems using different communication protocols.

"In some scenarios, multiple gaming systems may be available to pair with a game controller. In such a scenario, a typical game controller may pair with a gaming system having the highest communication signal strength of the available gaming systems."

What it essentially means is that you won't need several gamepads for different devices. Of course, we won't probably see the controller any time soon, but it's something to look forward to.

In September, Xbox presented its latest Elite Wireless Controller Series 2, which features adjustable-tension thumbsticks and shorter hair trigger locks, along with "limitless" customization with button mapping options.
