Microsoft Shares an Open Guide to Shipping Games on Xbox

The documentation reflects the latest processes and will be updated regularly.

Xbox

Microsoft unveiled documentation on shipping games on Xbox, providing publicly available guidelines on the entire workflow, from planning and preparing to launching titles for Xbox on PC, handhelds, and Xbox consoles.

The Xbox Game Publishing Guide takes you through the ID@Xbox sign-up process and creation of your first game in Microsoft Partner Center to release configuration and Xbox Certification. The documentation is open for all developers and their teams. With the transparent guide, creators can plan their development and shipping processes, knowing how the platform works.

"By opening our Game Publishing Documentation, we're removing barriers to learning and making it easier for teams of all sizes to understand what it takes to ship a game on Xbox," reads the announcement.

To access the guide, you don't need to create an account. Microsoft will also continue to update and expand the materials to reflect the latest processes, tools, best practices, and the new features of the platform.

Thus, the most recent updates include refreshed onboarding guidance; rules of Wish List, pre-order, and release configuration; renewed guidance for participation in the Xbox Insider Program; and new information on Xbox Certification and the test services.

Apart from this, you can discuss and share information from the guide within your own community as well as Microsoft's channels, including the Microsoft Game Dev Discord.
