Mobile Games Market Generated $7 Billion in March 2022

Last month's global consumer spending on mobile games reached $7 billion. Tencent's Honor of Kings retained the position of the top-grossing mobile game followed by PUBG Mobile.

Sensor Tower released a report on top-grossing mobile games worldwide in March 2022. For the second month in a row, Tencent's Honor of Kings topped the list with $272.4 million generated by consumer spending. The revenues of the game grew by 5.8% compared to March 2021. Nearly 96.6% of Honor of King's revenue came from China, about 1.3% was from Taiwan, and approximately 1% from Thailand.

As well as in February, another Tencent't game, PUBG Mobile, took the second spot with $199.8 million in gross revenue. The players from China, where the title was localized as Game For Peace, brought about 56.4% of its revenue, while 9.5% came from the United States. For the three months running, Genshin Impact, Candy Crush Saga, and Roblox took the third, fourth, and fifth positions respectively.

In total, last month's global consumer spending on mobile games across AppStore and Google Play amounted to $7 billion which is about 400 million more than players generated in February, although it reflects a decrease of 6.3% compared to the same period last year.

The US was the largest market for mobile games in March generating $1.9 billion (or 27.4% of total player spending worldwide). It was followed by China whose revenue represents 19.2% of total global spending and Japan with approximately 19%.
