Monster Hunter Wilds Adds 4 More Levels of Detail
You want to see that one abomination.
Levels of Detail (LODs) are quite important for any device's health and productivity: you don't need to see every wrinkle from a mile away but you'd want to enjoy the textures from up close. Capcom added more LODs to Monster Hunter Wilds in its new update, making the transition between the forms smoother.
As demonstrated by data_stash, there are now 8 LODs instead of 4, with the number of triangles decreasing at shorter intervals. You may be a fan of super-HD intricate-geometry creatures, but that last, angular one will definitely capture your heart.
Don't worry, your PC won't collapse from the change:
"Size-wise, the files on disk aren't much bigger than before: quematrice's mesh was 26MB and increased to 28MB during the update. Most of the data are in the first few LoD."
It's nice to see Capcom doing something good for the game. Its Steam reviews dropped to Negative in summer, but a recent optimization fix also improved the rating.
