Nailing 2D Anime Style in 3D With Blender Eevee
Here are a couple of great anime-style 3D renders produced by Antonis Fylladitis.
Antonis Fylladitis, a skilled CG Artist and one of the Fylladitis brothers, whom you might remember for their UE5-powered fan-made short film Superman Awakens, has recently experimented with anime art style in Blender, presenting a couple of impressive 2D-looking 3D renders.
Described by the artist as the "initial attempt", the renders portray a stylish katana-wielding female warrior standing in the middle of a subway car, surrounded by vanquished enemies as she prepares for the next battle. According to the creator, the project was rendered in Eevee, with grain and bloom effects incorporated through compositing directly in Blender.
"Although there's much room for improvement and learning, I'm pleased with the results," commented Antonis. "My next step is to implement these techniques in an animation context."
As is customary with 2D-styled 3D artworks, the creator also shared a couple of behind-the-scenes shots as evidence of the project's true 3D nature:
