Games industry veteran leaves PlayStation after 11 years to strengthen Netflix's video game team.
Stranger Things 3: The Game
PlayStation veteran Roberto Barrera announced he was appointed as the new head of Gaming Strategy, Planning & Analysis at Netflix. In a LinkedIn post, Barrera shared that Netflix's move to hire him made "a lot of sense". "Throughout my career, I have worked on projects that converge exactly on what gaming can be for Netflix," he said.
Roberto Barrera spent 11 years at PlayStation, where he started his career as a senior analyst and later served as a strategic and commercial director of PlayStation Now and then as a director and later senior director of corporate strategy.
At Netflix, Barrera joins the team led by Mike Verdu, the vice president in charge of game development, and Amir Rahimi, who was hired in November last year as the vice president of game studios.

"I am proud to join such a talented team and to be able to bring new, amazing experiences to gamers all over the world through the power of Netflix," Barrera said. "I fully intend to take this opportunity to leverage incredible new technologies, capabilities, and content to elevate gaming through a unique offering that could only come from Netflix".
Barrera's appointment follows the recent Netflix acquisition of Next Games, a Finnish-based studio known for developing Stranger Things: Puzzle Tales game.
