The game will be powered by Unreal Engine and presumably be an FPS or third-person shooter.
Netflix continues its efforts in expanding into the gaming space – the company already has six internal development studios, including Spry Fox, newly-formed Southern California-based and Helsinki-based studios, Next Games, Night School Studio, and Boss Fight Entertainment.
And now, it is apparently creating a new AAA game. The fact that the streaming service is now working on a big-budget title was revealed thanks to job openings the company has published on its website.
Currently, Netflix is searching for art, game, and technical directors as well as artists, producers, engineers, and other specialists who, according to job descriptions, will work on a new unannounced AAA project.
The game is set to be powered by Unreal Engine and will likely be a first-person or third-person shooter, as several job openings mention that experience with FPS and/or third-person shooter games is preferred or required.
It's unclear whether the project will be an entirely new IP or based on one of the Netflix shows but the job description for the game director position suggests that the game is set to feature "the world/characters/narrative that are worthy of a Netflix film/TV series."
