New GPU-Based FLIP Fluid Solver HydroFX Released

Sebastian Schaefer's tool is officially production-ready.

Sebastian Schaefer has officially released HydroFX to the public, his new GPU-accelerated FLIP fluid solver designed for realistic water simulations. HydroFX is described as a simplified, node-free version of the developer's existing tool Storm, making it easy for current Storm users to get started immediately and accessible for newcomers through tutorials.

You can import geometry in formats such as Alembic or OBJ and use it as emitters, colliders, forces, or any combination of these. Simulation results can be exported as Playblast previews or cached in formats like Alembic, VDB, or the newly supported USD for particles.

If you've been following HydroFX since its beta, among the improvements in this release are increased speed and stability, support for bubbles, enhanced foam and spray, and new systems that allow whitewater to be simulated separately and exported as a mesh. Cache files are now smaller thanks to the option of exporting only surface particles within a narrow band, and the update also includes various bug fixes and UI enhancements.

HydroFX 1.0 is compatible with Windows and requires an NVIDIA GPU. You can learn more about the software and purchase it by clicking this link.
