Neil Druckmann, CEO of Naughty Dog, reportedly revealed that the new studio's game has been in development for five years.
In an online panel with Ken Levine, which has now been made private on YouTube, Druckmann reportedly shared that the studio started on the new project in 2020, shortly after the release of The Last of Us 2.
The developer didn't share much detail, though, either concerning the type of project or the development stage. Seemingly, the announcement might be expected in 2025, and the release in 2026.

Supposedly, the new game won't be the new part of The Last of Us series, as Neil Druckmann previously said that they were already into our next project, "the decision has already been made." He also shared that Naughty Dog would not be "The Last of Us" studio forever, as numerous games are in the works, including "multiple single-player projects."
Before, video game industry insider Ben Hanson discussed the next Naughty Dog game on the MinnMax podcast and said that it will offer "a lot of player freedom."
