Newzoo: Hogwarts Legacy Was the Top Grossing PC Game of Q1 2023

Hogwarts Legacy claimed the top spot as the highest-grossing game on PC in both the UK and the US, while also securing the position of the top-grossing console game in the US in Q1 2023.

Newzoo has released a new report where it disclosed the top-grossing PC and console games in the US and UK for the first quarter of 2023, according to its estimations.

The research firm reported that Hogwarts Legacy was the PC's highest-grossing game in Q1 2023, considering both retail and in-game sales by a significant margin. Additionally, it was the highest-grossing game for PlayStation and Xbox in the US. In the UK, FIFA 23 secured the first position, with Hogwarts Legacy following.

Within the first two weeks of its release on February 10, the open-world action RPG sold more than 12 million copies and generated $850 million in sales worldwide, marking the largest launch in the company's history.

It was the biggest debut of a European launch since 2018's Red Dead Redemption 2, outside of the FIFA and Call of Duty series. Moreover, it emerged as the top-selling game in the US during the first quarter, outperforming Modern Warfare II and the Resident Evil 4 remake.

Sons of the Forest and Valorant also achieved significant success on PC during the first quarter of 2023. In the US, Sons of the Forest secured the second position among the highest-grossing games, whereas Valorant was the third-highest-grossing title. In the UK, their positions were swapped, with Valorant securing the second spot and Sons of the Forest taking the third position.

Dead Space, The Sims 4, League of Legends, Roblox, Modern Warfare 2, and Fortnite were also part of the top 10 highest-grossing PC games in both the US and UK during the first quarter of the year.

The console revenue charts in both the US and UK had many titles in common. NBA 2K23 was ranked at No. 2 in the US and No. 8 in the UK, while Fortnite secured the No. 3 spot in both countries. Both charts also featured FIFA 23, Modern Warfare 2, Grand Theft Auto 5, Destiny 2, and Dead Space.
