Night Sky Animation Made in 20-Year-Old Flash Software

Resh shows how the scrapped short movie was animated.

Animator and Illustrator Resh has shared their animation work behind one of the sequences in the prelude for Reveries Apart, a short movie they discontinued in 2022 after 3 years of development. Sadly, we won't see it in full, but the creator decided to demonstrate what had been done for the film.

In the video below, you can see a rotating shot with two girls and the night sky, made with "ancient" Macromedia Flash 2004, a software released over 20 years ago.

"I am more amazed you still have Flash working," one X/Twitter user joked, and yes, Resh is sure the app created before the Adobe acquisition has "everything we need."

Check out Resh's other animations on X/Twitter and YouTube if you want to get to know their art.
