Fans shouldn't expect any news about the new handheld during this Summer's Nintendo Direct.

Nintendo's president Shuntaro Furukawa has made a highly anticipated announcement about the company's new handheld console, commonly referred to as Nintendo Switch 2, stating that Switch's successor will be officially announced by the end of this fiscal year, ending March 2025.
"This is Furukawa, President of Nintendo," the statement reads. "We will make an announcement about the successor to Nintendo Switch within this fiscal year. It will have been over nine years since we announced the existence of Nintendo Switch back in March 2015."
Additionally, Furukawa highlighted that the company will hold its Nintendo Direct event this June, dedicated to showcasing the lineup of games for the Nintendo Switch in the latter half of 2024, emphasizing that there will be no mention of the Nintendo Switch successor during the presentation.
