Nintendo has released the results for the end of its fiscal year, stating it had sold 125.62 million Switch consoles as of March 31. While it is a lot, the year-end console sales have declined by 22%.
The company sold a total of 17.97 million consoles during the 12-month period but missed its sales target of 21 million and even the later revised target of 18 million. It is now planning to sell 15 million handhelds during the current fiscal year ending on March 31, 2024.
According to Bloomberg, president Shuntaro Furukawa also said there are no plans for a new or upgraded hardware this fiscal year:
“Sustaining the Switch’s sales momentum will be difficult in its seventh year,” he mentioned. “Our goal of selling 15 million unit this fiscal year is a bit of stretch. But we will do our best to bolster demand going into the holiday season so that we can achieve the goal.”
Nintendo's report also shows how successful Switch games have been this year.
- Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet – 22.10 million units
- Splatoon 3 – 10.67 million units
- Nintendo Switch Sports – 9.60 million units
- Mario Kart 8 Deluxe – 8.45 million units
- Kirby and the Forgotten Land – 3.81 million units
