A recent report from market research company Circana states that November showed one of the lowest results in hardware and software sales in the US. As for the leaders, Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 became the top-selling title, while PlayStation 5 ranked first in hardware sales.
According to the report by Mat Piscatella, Senior Director and Video Game Industry Thought Leader at Circana, 1.6 million units of video game hardware across all platforms were sold in the US during November, which became the lowest total for a November month since 1995, when it constituted 1.4 million. Also, monthly hardware spending decreased by 27% compared to a year ago. This figure is the lowest video game hardware spending total for November since the $455 million reached during the November 2005 tracking period.
At the same time, the average price for a new unit of video game hardware reached an all-time November high of $439, which is a 11% increase compared to last year.
The director noted that Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 became the best-selling game and the 7th best-selling game of 2025 year-to-date. It marks the 18th consecutive year that the franchise release became the best-selling game of its release month. Other titles, which showed the best sales in November, were Battlefield 6, NBA 2K26, Madden NFL 26, EA Sports FC 26, and others. Take a look:
The best-selling hardware in both units and dollars is PlayStation 5, showing such results for the first time since the launch of the Nintendo Switch 2. The latter ranked second in November by both units sold and revenue.
