Nvidia Becomes a Patron of Blender

NVIDIA became a new patron of Blender, a free open-source tool for 3D artists.

As an open-source solution, Blender needs donations to continue development, and both individuals and corporations are donating to the Blender needs. Nvidia is the latest company to commit to the highest donation level, so they're contributing at least €120,000 a year.

Previously, Epic Games and Ubisoft have also decided to support Blender Foundation. Ubisoft, for example, became a Gold member, and they help to fund online support for Blender developers. Also, they decided that Ubisoft Animation Studio will use Blender for their productions and assign developers to contribute to Blender’s open-source projects.

Blender 2.8 has become a major blast for the entire industry, becoming a new industry standard for all kinds of 3D and 2D tasks. Recently the team has also revealed a number of features in the upcoming 2.81 version. The update will include new retopology tools, sculpting brushes, and implement Open Image Denoise and experimental support for hardware-accelerated ray tracing on Nvidia RTX GPUs in Blender’s Cycles renderer.
