2024 is almost here, so it's time to dream about the future and make plans. NVIDIA did just that and published its predictions for AI development next year. As you might expect, this field will be ruling the world of tech, according to the company's specialists. Generative AI has been steadily growing this year, and the next will continue the trend.
Some experts believe 2024 will be about creating connections with cloud service providers, data storage and analytical companies, and those who can handle, fine-tune, and deploy big data efficiently. In the middle of this, all will be large language models (LLMs), advancements in this area will be applied in business and enterprise applications. At the same time, AI capabilities like retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), autonomous intelligent agents, and multimodal interactions will become more accessible and more easily deployed.
"RAG is an AI framework for retrieving facts from an external knowledge base to ground large language models (LLMs) on the most accurate, up-to-date information and to give users insight into LLMs' generative process."
Manuvir Das, Vice President of Enterprise Computing, thinks companies will seek more customization. "Companies won’t have one or two generative AI applications — many will have hundreds of customized applications using proprietary data that is suited to various parts of their business." These custom LLMs will have RAG capabilities for more accurate responses.
Vice President of Hyperscale and HPC, Ian Buck, believes AI will become "the new space race", and every country will aim to create its own centers to advance research in this field.
"With just a few hundred nodes of accelerated computing, countries will be able to quickly build highly efficient, massively performant, exascale AI supercomputers. Government-funded generative AI centers of excellence will boost countries’ economic growth by creating new jobs and building stronger university programs to create the next generation of scientists, researchers and engineers."
Additionally, enterprises will launch quantum computing research initiatives based on the ability to use AI supercomputers to simulate quantum processors and the availability of an open development platform for hybrid-classical quantum computing.
The changes will be led by open-source models, according to some NVIDIA specialists, and we'll hear more about RAG in 2024.
