NVIDIA Shows Preview of The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind Remastered with RTX

Check out how the classic 2002 RPG looks with modern path tracing and new assets.

NVIDIA shared an early look at the 2002 Bethesda Game Studios' RPG The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind remastered with RTX Remix. Morrowind RTX will feature modern assets and revamped visuals, enhanced with the latest RTX technologies.

RTX Remix community modder known as Gokuwashere works on the project, bringing DLSS-accelerated path tracing to Morrowind. The project is now in the early build stage, but already looks promising. It currently covers the Seyda Neen starting village and Balmora district, and includes an updated version of the Mages Guild, a location previously featured in NVIDIA's unreleased 2022 Morrowind test mod.

The project overhauls the game's original assets with detailed textures and materials, adds new vegetation and terrain features, and introduces volumetric clouds alongside path-traced lighting. Water, once a technical showcase for early GeForce GPUs running Shader Model 2.0, has also been visually upgraded, and spell effects benefit from Remix's Advanced Particle VFX system.

The mod also builds on several popular community mods to modernize gameplay, with everything running on DLSS 4.5 for improved performance.
