Oblivion: Remastered Sold More Copies In Its Release Month Than 15 Months Of The Original Game

Best seller of the month in the US.

Bethesda

It's been exactly a month since The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered was shadow dropped on the 22nd of last month. Just a week after its launch, it reached 3rd place on the best-selling games chart in the US. Now, the whole month's results are out, and the new game has earned itself the honor of best-selling game of the month across all platforms.

This is according to Mat Piscatella, Executive Director & Video Game Industry Analyst at Circana. He shared the highlights of the US gaming market for April, based on data collected from April 6 through May 3, on LinkedIn

"The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion: Remastered was the best-selling game of the month, instantly becoming the 3rd best-selling game of 2025 year-to-date. It was the best-selling title across each of the PlayStation, Xbox and PC platforms."

Compared to the original game, which was released in March 2006, the remastered version is doing much better. In April, it had sold more than the original game did in its first 15 months, and it made more money from selling full games than the original made in its first 14 months.

Following the Oblivion Remastered is Playground Games' Forza Horizon 5, which was released on Windows and Xbox in 2021 and just received a PS5 version last month. The new port has helped the game rise in its ranking from 42nd in March to second place.

Meanwhile, the report also notes that the overall industry sales in the country, including video game content, hardware, and accessories, dropped 3% compared with the previous year.
