Offshore Drilling Platform From An Upcoming Indie Fishing Game With Realistic Physics

Of Salt And Solace is a WIP Godot project by indie developer Sam.

Indie game developer Sam (_saminton) has been working on a pixelated fishing game called Of Salt And Solace with Godot Engine. Recently, they shared a first look at the mining/oil platform in their WIP project, where the protagonist took a boat to the drill and walked upstairs to reach the platform. It looks quite impressive with the chill atmosphere and realistic physics.

Of Salt And Solace is still in early development and the game's Steam page isn't set up yet, but the title could possibly hint at the setting and story direction. By exploring some recently shared clips, we can piece together some of its gameplay elements.

For example, we can expect to interact with a merchant to buy ingredients and sell goods to gain profits; we will also sail the boat in changing weather, like thundering storms, to navigate oceans with big waves that might make our boat swing up and down like in reality, collect mushrooms in the mountains, and take them to the kitchen to cook according to recipes.

The game has gradually taken shape by implementing new visual effects, dialogue, a quest system, introducing a new camera angle, and enhancing visuals with appealing water reflections:

If you'd like to explore it further, don't hesitate to follow the developer on X/Twitter. By the time the Steam page is ready, which hopefully won't take long, you will probably be notified there.
