And more waves of bans are expected to come later.
Over 27,000 accounts were reportedly banned from Call of Duty over the weekend, with even more bans expected in the future. This was initially reported by Twitter user CharlieIntel, a widely recognized account known for its reliable updates on the Call of Duty franchise.

The bans were issued by Activision's Ricochet Anti-Cheat initiative. This multi-faceted approach to combat cheating includes new server-side tools that monitor analytics to identify cheaters, enhanced investigation processes, and various updates to strengthen account security.
According to the post, more waves of bans will come later, though an exact timeline has not yet been provided, as "The team is progressing on a new set of security updates."

In a post following the ban report, CharlieIntel pointed out that several streamers have also reported banned this weekend, potentially as a result of the developer's action.
The timing of this wave of bans coincides with the recent launch of Modern Warfare 3 and Warzone Season 3.
Modern Warfare 3 offers six new 6v6 multiplayer maps where players can embark on a mission to save Dr. Jansen from the Dark Aether in Zombies. Additional features include the opportunity to unlock new weapons and compete in Season 3 Ranked Play.
Meanwhile, Warzone Season 3 takes players back to Rebirth Island, but with novel gameplay. The reimagined map features dynamic gameplay, underwater caverns, and an array of items that yield intriguing rewards. Furthermore, seasoned players can showcase their dominance in the Resurgence Champion's Quest.
