Particle-Based Sausage Cutting Machine Simulation

Learn how Zolden built his 3D physics engine.

If you're a regular visitor to 80 Level, you probably know that Game Developer Zolden has a passion for physics in games and enjoys building physics engines. Recently, he was inspired to develop a game where characters are fully represented by soft-body physics simulations. Their movements follow physically plausible rules, allowing players to predict outcomes based on real-world physical intuition.

Although Simulario explores experimental 2D physics gameplay, Zolden has also created numerous impressive 3D projects in the past. He uses Unity to run compute shaders, but all the physics calculations are entirely his own work within those shaders. Check out these satisfying destructible simulations, mesh generation visualization, and more:

Zolden has shared a brief article detailing how he developed his 3D physics engine, you can check it out here. Also, wishlist Simulario and follow Zolden on X/Twitter for more.
