Have a look at Pepper Grinder – an upcoming action-packed 2D adventure mixing traditional platforming with drilling the environment. You play as Pepper, a pirate robbed of her treasure, wielding Grinder – her super-powered drilling device. Together they fight to reclaim what's rightfully theirs (as rightfully as treasure can belong to a pirate, that is).
The drilling mechanic allows you to "dive in and out of the earth like a dolphin swims through water", burrowing into the terrain and water and leaping out of the colorful surroundings.
