Persona Developer Atlus To Increase Salaries & Reduce Fixed Overtime
"We consider investment in human resources to be indispensable."
Atlus
In a slew of never-ending bad news in the industry, where layoffs have almost become the norm, here's a crumb of positivity from Atlus, mostly known for the Persona and Shin Megami Tensei series. The company has published a press release announcing revisions to compensation and a reduction in fixed overtime work from 30 hours to 20 hours per month. (via Automaton)
In Japan, fixed overtime hours mean employees receive compensation for a predetermined amount of overtime as part of their regular monthly pay. Atlus says that the revision will raise the starting salary for new graduates at entry-level positions from 300,000 yen to 330,000 yen, while the average annual income for full-time and contract employees is set to increase by 15%. These changes are set to take effect in April.
"We believe that in order to deliver inspiring experiences to our users, it is essential to foster the creativity and improve the productivity of each and every employee, and therefore, we consider investment in human resources to be indispensable.
Even amidst fluctuations in external factors such as rising prices, we will continue to support our employees in maintaining stable lives and create an environment where they can work with greater peace of mind."
With the cost of living rising in Japan in recent years, major companies like Capcom and Konami have previously announced wage increases, and Atlus' parent company, Sega, has made similar adjustments to stay competitive.
