Previous versions
Pilgway has released 3DCoat 2023.27, an update to the digital modeling, sculpting, unwrapping, and texturing software for creating organic and hard-surface 3D models, improving several tools and fixing some issues.
The previous, 2023.26, version, saw major improvements to the Molding tool, with new, stable and fast, sort of Boolean operations that allowed users to create molds for meshes up to 70-100 million.
This time, Pilgway moved molding from Undercuts to a separate tool. They also improved the Measure tool, changing the "Measure is relative" values to show in units, not percent.
Other changes include:
- Usual gizmo improves, less cluttered with plane scaling planes and better looking (anti-aliased).
- Better "Smooth selection" in pose tool, works better for irregular triangulation.
- To Global space, To Uniform space keep symmetry settings.
- Fixed several problems related to shaders - (1) sharing the shader with custom textures works correctly (via 3dcpack), (2) Replacement of the normal map for the shader (if you edit it as permanent shader) works correctly.
- Influence area is stored correctly within presets and tool settings.
- Fixed "File dialogs from tools do not close under macOS"
3DCoat is a useful tool available for €379 per perpetual individual node-locked license. Subscriptions are €20.80/month or €169.85/year. You can find out more about the app on its website.
