Potential New Yakuza Game Teased by Recent Sega Trademark
Will "Yakuza Wars" be a collaboration between Yakuza and another Sega franchise, Sakura Wars?
Sega has sparked intrigue among fans by filing a new trademark for "Yakuza Wars," hinting at a potential addition to the popular Yakuza/Like a Dragon franchise.
The trademark, filed on July 26, 2024 in Japan, was only made public yesterday. With the help of translation, we get to know that the trademark falls into the category of "home video game console programs and 108 others." Some players are hoping for a potential collaboration with another Sega franchise, Sakura Wars, as the trademark is a combination of Yakuza and Sakura Wars.
Sega's subsidiary, Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio, is known for releasing a new Yakuza game or remake almost annually. This has left fans guessing whether Yakuza Wars will be a mainline game or a spinoff. Last month, the studio promised that the next entry in the series would "surprise" fans.

Meanwhile, fans are eagerly awaiting the next game reveal from Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio at the Tokyo Game Show scheduled between September 26 and 29. By that time, we may be able to unravel the mystery surrounding this newly registered trademark.
