During its recent keynote event, the Procreate team, known for their graphics editor for iPad, officially introduced Procreate Dreams, a brand-new animation application designed to create captivating hand-drawn animations and dynamic motion graphics.
Equipped with "everything you need to create rich 2D animations", Procreate Dreams includes your favorite Procreate brushes, supports a 4K ProRes resolution, features a multi-touch timeline designed specifically for animation, and even allows for the integration of voiceovers, music, and sound effects. The innovative app also recognizes simple pinch gestures like Zoom, Pan, and Rotate, offers VFX and keyframing capabilities, provides customizable onion skins, offers real-time rendering, and much more.
The announcement also introduced .dream, a new Procreate file format designed for "the next-generation of Procreate products". This cutting-edge format includes features like saved undo history and instant opening, and it bundles all your assets into one file made for iCloud synchronization and backups. Here are some of its features, as outlined by the Procreate team:
- Instant Open: Procreate Dreams' files open and close in an instant.
- Automatic Saving: Every change you make is instantly saved.
- iCloud Support: Organize and backup with iCloud synchronization.
- Eternal History: Experiment without the risk of losing your work with saved undo history.
Procreate Dreams is set to become available for Apple's iPad starting November 22, 2023. As opposed to the emerging industry standard, the tool will not be subscription-based and will be available via a one-time payment of $19,99.
