Krafton teases the first images of ANA, its new virtual human powered by Unreal Engine, face rigging, and deep learning technologies.
Krafton, a South Korean company responsible for PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds and highly anticipated Callisto Protocol, on Wednesday revealed the first images of ANA, its new hyper-realistic virtual human.
ANA was created using Unreal Engine's 3D-based hyper-realism technology as well as deep learning and rigging. The developer notes that face rigging technologies help the character express lifelike emotions, pupil movements, vivid expressions, and natural joint movement. Meanwhile, deep learning technologies such as "advanced voice synthesis" give ANA a realistic AI voice allowing her to act and even sing like a real human.
Not much is known about ANA so far except it is designed to "engage a global audience and help establish Krafton’s Web 3.0 ecosystem." The developer also revealed its intention to use the character as a kind of virtual influencer that "can be accepted and approved by audiences across the world."
"We expect her to attract the interest and popularity of Gen Z around the world," said Josh Seokjin Shin, head of Krafton's creative center. "ANA will release an original music track and expand her scope of activity as an influencer into various areas across entertainment and esports."
Krafton said it will reveal more information about ANA throughout this year promising to unveil more images, videos, and even a "unique story arc".
