Quad Maker For Blender Now Lets You Smooth Distorted Topology By Selection

Mark Kingsnorth showcased the latest update to his Maya-inspired retopology tool.

Last autumn, Mark Kingsnorth introduced Quad Maker, a powerful set of mesh operations designed to quickly retopologize 3D models into clean, quad-based geometry. Inspired by Maya's Quad Draw, it offers Blender users a faster, more flexible way to handle retopology while seamlessly integrating with Blender's native tools.

With the latest update, Mark added the ability to Smooth by Selection, making it easier to clean overlapping parts. Here's the full list of Quad Maker's operations:

  • Add Vertices: Quickly add point vertices;
  • Fill Quads: Fill the point vertices and surrounding geometry with quads;
  • Extend Borders: Extrude border edges and vertices either in single, loop, or edge rings;
  • Quick Cut: Quickly use the simple loop cut and slide operation with single clicks;
  • Draw Quad Strip: Quickly draw out strips of quads on a target surface;
  • Smooth Vertices: Smooth out vertices in Edit mode;
  • Delete Mode: Quickly delete vertices, edges, and faces and dissolve interior edges in a single click/drag operation.

Please note that this add-on is compatible with Blender 4.2 and above. It's also designed for simplicity and speed, so it may not be as feature-rich as other retopology tools.
