Real Life-Inspired Beautiful Waterfall Made With Houdini & Mantra

FX Artist Gabriel Reid shared a new personal project.

Inspired by the majestic Iguazu Falls on the Argentina-Brazil border, Gabriel Reid developed this waterfall simulation to experiment with new approaches for handling large data and automation processes. All FX and rendering were made in Houdini and Mantra, with compositing done in Autodesk Fusion.

Previously, the artist explored different workflows and visual styles for Houdini water simulations. This scene was built entirely from scratch, using procedurally created assets with SpeedTree and Substance 3D Designer, and rendered with OctaneRender:
