An experienced character artist Adam Skutt, who worked on The Order:1886 and Uncharted 4, shared an example of a real time hair asset. The pack includes the Marmoset file, textures, materials and lighting scene for you to dissect.
The folder also features an FBX file with the original hair grouping so you can see the separate layers he built up based on opacity. This is a really nice way to understand how leading artists work on hair.
