Redfall Doesn't Have Enough Players to Fill a Four-Person Lobby

At some point, the game had just 3 concurrent players on Steam.

Redfall, the notorious 2023 vampire-themed FPS developed by Arkane and published by Bethesda, has recently set a new anti-record, achieving an impressively low number of concurrent players, which wasn't even enough to fill a standard four-person co-op lobby.

Despite Redfall's reputation, the player count situation wasn't too alarming when the game launched five months ago. Back in May, it had a substantial player base, peaking at 6,124 concurrent players at one point. However, it has become clear in recent days that even the most dedicated Arkane and Bethesda fans have accepted the game's dismal state and abandoned it.

Over the past few weeks, the game's concurrent player count barely surpassed 30 players during peak times. As pointed out by PCGamesN, there were times of the day when it was simply impossible to form a complete four-player cooperative team simply due to the scarcity of players engaging with Redfall. Last Friday, for example, the game had only three concurrent players, according to SteamDB:

VGC further noticed that the game has consistently reached a player count in the single digits every day since September 22, amounting to a full two-week period.

Notwithstanding the total failure that is Redfall, the creators don't plan to give up on the game, saying that the title simply "didn't start right". Last month, Bethesda's Publishing Head Pete Hines said that the developers of Redfall are committed to adding support for 60 FPS in the console version and revealed that he believes that the game will continue to attract an audience even in the future, thanks to Game Pass.

Redfall received criticism at its launch due to uninspired missions, lackluster enemy AI, and technical issues, resulting in an overall score of 3.4 and a Mostly Negative review status on Steam. The game's poor reception even prompted executives such as Phil Spencer and Matt Booty to address Xbox's involvement in the disappointing release of the game.
